It finally stopped raining today but I tried to get some images between the drops. I like shooting plants and flowers in the rain because the light is usually nice and even and there are no harsh shadows. Plus I like the look of the rain drops on them.
I especially like the monochrome ones, Ken. The tones and patterns and shapes are all really rich.
Thanks, Ashley. The sepia ones are my favorite, too.
I like shooting in rain for all the same reasons. And I too like the black and white shots with their beautiful tones.
Thanks, ehpem. When you get as much rain as we do, you have to make the best of it.
I am not entirely sure what this “rain” is, but it sure does make for lovely photographs. I especially like the b&w ones.
Thanks, Melinda. Rain is water that falls, in drop formation, from the sky. No one knows why.
Huh. Falls in drop formation, you say? From the sky? How often does this occur? Is it frightening? Do you have special protective gear to keep from getting “wet” from the “rain”?
YES!!! FROM THE SKY!!! Around here it falls nearly everyday (even as I write) an it can be very frightening, especially for Emo. Cotton may be “the fabric of your life” where you are but here it’s Gore-Tex and Polar Fleece.
I am still having a hard time imagining “rain” – maybe I need to take a trip somewhere so I can observe it first hand.
(Poor Emo.)
Send a little of that rain our way, Ken! I really like the first three, with the top taking top honors.
Thanks, John. The first three were shot in my back yard, so I didn’t have to go far.
Beautiful…
The rain drops are delicate crystals and add such magic to the beautiful plants. You made the very most of the lovely light.
Thanks, Anita. The trick is to shoot between the rain drops.
Love all that detail, and the drops, of course. The softer look of the colour images makes for a nice contrast with the starker black and white shots.
Thanks, Andrew. My photos of the hostas don’t look nearly as nice without the rain drops.
My favorite may be the second one, 5602, Ken. I don’t know if it’s the aspect ratio of the photo or that it shows a little more leaves.
Thanks, Earl. That’s one of my favorites, too. It’s the 16:9 ration that i know you like.
Love your plant pictures.
Thanks, Bente.
Lovely photos Ken and I love Bergenia leaves.. they like rain very much!!! Hope you have sun now.
Nice week end to you
Thank, Chantal. I wish these were Bergenia because they have nice flowers. These are plain old hostas and, although they flower also, they’re not as nice as Bergenia.
I really like those first few monochrome shots – tremendous clarity to the rain drops. Well shot, Ken
We’ve been getting quite a soaking, of late, too. I can just manage to get out and cut the grass between these soakings. Looks like you’ve done something much more fun than cutting grass. Perhaps the neighborhood association can be persuaded to back off a bit while I got and photograph. 😀
