Circles have been “around” since before the beginning of recorded history. They seem to appear, seemingly randomly, on almost every continent. In the Northern Hemisphere, they appear as far north as Thule, Greenland and as far south as Lubbock, Texas. Scientist estimate that these 28 inch diameter circles, depicted in these photos taken in May, 2014 near Sodus, New York, may date between 2008 to 2011. Many questions arise from these circles; Why are they here? What do they mean? What inconceivable purpose could they serve? Why circles? Why not rectangles? Their meaning remains a mystery to this day.
PS: The use of the word “inconceivable” is on loan from the producers of “The Princess Bride”. They have graciously allowed the use of it for this post.

Exactly!
In order . . .
They are here to protect walkers from dark places and even darker things.
Their meaning has been postulated to be as simple as both a symbolic and physical doorway between different universes, and at least one of their purpose is to separate us from the unmentionable byproducts of the human alimentary system.
However, in truth, modernity largely ignores them, their purpose and meaning lost to all but a few.
As to why circles . . . the openings to dark places need to remain sealed, and round shapes cannot pass from light into darkness. Square shapes, on the other hand, unless properly aligned can easily be lost to the darkness.
(p.s. “work” maybe should be “word”)
That only explains why manhole covers are round. I think there is a deeper, unfathomable meaning we are not meant to comprehend.
I should type slower and rely less in the spell check.
That would be a pretty mundane (and specifically directed) meaning.
Plus I think manhole covers predate spell check.
Clearly these circles are teleporting sites used by R.O.U.S. to get from one part of the city to another. Always tread carefully because near these sites you will be likely to find lightning sand and firespouts. Without Peter Falk to help guide you to safety it can be a perilous place 😉
That explains a lot. Where’s Peter when you need him.
Great shots; cosmic circles in cosmic cement.
Thanks, Harri. I knew you would appreciate them.
Glad you got a-round to this post.
Not bad for a square!
Discarded Giant’s buttons
I guess that’s as good as any answer.
How strange Ken, like crop circle but in cement!
They are strange, Chantal. But I could not look away!
Circles? In Lubbock? That doesn’t sound quite right. (I’ve seen them in Lazbuddie, though, and Muleshoe – so they may be headed in my direction. I’ll keep an eye out.)
This could signal the start of the most import discovery in the history of, well, history! Keep watching. Or you could start a blog called “CIRCLEGAZING”, but that has a nasty ring to it.
Maybe I should just start a blog called All The Gazings. But now that I think about it, I guess that’s sort of what I’m already doing at One Day | One Image.
