Thanks, E. It’s not really a Checker. Not really a cab either. It’s an old DeSoto the owner decided to paint as a cab. It’s my kind of cab though, no meter.
Love these automotive abstracts, Ken. That old Checker is something you don’t see very much anymore. The hood ornament on that Desoto is totally awesome. What a sleek design. Love the grille in that old Ford as well. Looks early to mid 30’s.
Where are you finding these old classics? Great stuff, man. 🙂
Thanks, Jimi. The Checker is actually an early 1950’s DeSoto also, painted to look like the Checker cab.
There are a few Cruise Nights not far from my home but mostly I attend the Damascus show each Friday. It’s all for charity and a worthwhile cause. There are usually 100-200 cars each Friday but there is no competition. The show is well attended and there is usually a DJ blasting ’50s and ’60s music all night.
Another fin set, Ken.
Thanks, Harrie.
Ken you car shots always fascinate me. Such a different view of a car and graphic.
Thanks, ehpem. I try to focus on the graphic designs I see in the cars. Sometimes the parts are better than the whole.
Isn’t that so true, especially for modern cars.
POW… those colors.
Thanks, John. The paint job on the taxi costs more than I make in a week!
I do like the old checker cabs designs. If I could buy a new one today, I would.

Still like the checker better, but that’s just my inner-engineer speaking.
That’s some vintage iron there, Ken. Checker Marathon? I was too lazy to look it up but it looks like one. Not too many people will remember the AMX!
Thanks, Tom. I never see any Checker cars at these shows. This is an early ’50s DeSoto and it was never a cab. Still cool, though.

You have such an abundance of these beautiful vehicles, they are wonderful
Thanks, sp. We do have a lot of car nuts, I mean enthusiasts, here.
I’d love to see that entire car too. And I love 2154.
Thanks, Andy. Stay tuned!
