Love the shallow depth of field. Takes this photo of a flower way out of the realm of the ordinary. (Just wondering: did you also use negative clarity in Lightroom?)
Thanks, Linda. I try to focus on a specific part of the flower and use f8 or f11 usually. For close-ups, that doesn’t give you a lot of depth but as long as there is one point in focus I’m happy. I do use negative clarity in lightroom for the overall file and use the adjustment brush to bring out the focus point with clarity. There is a lot of control in post processing and it seems limited only by your imagination.
Thanks, Blue. That might have to do with the black and white conversion. And I have a tendency to wait to shoot these flowers when they are very “mature”.
But I think it’s mostly the angle and focus range that make it appear to be morphing….and you’re probably right, in color it wouldn’t have that feeling as much.
Stunning!
Thanks, Ihohls.
Spring! I’m so pleased to feel the first signs of autumn over here.
Thanks, Ash. Not spring yet. This is an old photo.
Great in black and white! Love the shallow depth of feel. Spring better get here soon!
Thanks, Howard. I agree. I bought these at the grocery store as a spring fix.
This is wonderfully dreamy. Ah! Dreams of Spring.
Thanks, Anita. Yes, Spring is only a few days away.

looks so tender…
Thanks, Alexandra. I shot this at the peak of bloom.
I like the way this seems on the way to becoming something else.
