Thanks, E. I agree with you – the first is my favorite, too. The McLaren is a nice car and I admire it as a piece of automotive art but I would never want a car like that for myself. I can picture myself behind the wheel of a Studebaker, though.
Even when I was younger, the idea of sitting 4 inches above the pavement wasn’t attractive to me. And, much like now, it was uncomfortable getting in and out of those cars.
It’s funny that a lot of these cars are owned by old guys (that can afford them) that want to appear young. Just don’t watch them get in and out of these cars.
The food tray was a fun idea – I’m guessing the auto owner uses plastic replicas to enhance the display? I like the golden glints you showed throughout the Pontiac photo, too. But all your photos are top-notch!
Thanks, Lynn. Yes, the tray of food looks realistic but I’m sure it’s too high in fiber to eat. The Pontiac was parked next to the McLaren. That gave the golden reflections. Pure luck.
Thanks, Linda. Yes, there are McLarens and a few people own them. I think there are 2 in our area. T never thought I’d get this close to one. They are nice cars and they photograph well, so I can’t take all the credit.
Another nice collection of details. The McLaren is nice but I’m kind of partial to the Mustang shot. Those triple tail lights are pretty iconic. Wish my ’89 had those.
I once had one of those food trays and a couple of A&W mugs that “somehow” made their way into my car. I passed the mugs on to my son but don’t remember where the tray went.
Thanks, Tom. If the A&W police read that comment you can probably expect a visit from them. Given the amount of traffic this site gets I’d say you’re pretty safe.
Awesome details, especially the McLeran, the interior of the Corvette, and the Porche’s tail light. Great treatment of lighting and colors.
But, for evoking nostalgia, the first photo, of the defunct marque, hits the spot.

Ah, I wondered (about the reflections)! 🙂
I’d never seen a McLaren. I was going to accuse you of making up some of these photos from thin air. This is another stunning collection, Ken.

Ooooh, I don’t know. I think you can. 🙂
Really wonderful set of photos!
Thanks, Howard.

Well, I seem to recall that it happened sometime around 1980, so the statute of limitations has probably passed. I’m reformed now…. 😉
