Thanks, E. I shot this last Summer but only processed it yesterday. BTW, my two biggest Winter Projects are nearly completed. I could take a vacation if it wasn’t for the fact that I hate vacations.
Thanks, Lynn. That smooth look is achieved by pushing the Clarity and Texture sliders to the overall file and then brushing in the clarity and Texture to only key areas through the masking panel. Now you know everything I know about processing car photos (and any other photo).
π So funny! Maybe you know a few more things.
Sometimes I like to push the clarity a little to the left and the texture a little the other way in the overall file. That’s in outdoor/nature photos because it seems that sometimes if both clarity & texture are pushed to the right everything looks too harsh. I like the idea of pushing them to the left (I think you meant) and then coming back in with a brush for any details you want. And that does explain how you have that super-smooth look but the ornament is still clear. Maybe that’s not called an ornament…

Love the play of light and shadow. Also that little whatchamacallit in chrome above the grill is an illusion as it goes into shadow. First it seems like itβs going into the page and then out, if you get what I mean.
I think I do know what you mean, Howard. It’s a combination of the ornament and the light. I think it was getting late in the day when I shot this and there is some strong sidelight. The light seems to make it “pop”. Thanks, Howard.
Pretty nifty . . . another recovered shot or recent?

I lost track of all your Winter Projects . . . will there be posts about them soon?
Maybe!
Interesting play with shadow. (What kind of car is this?)
Thanks, Linda. This is a later model Thunderbird. They are rare around here but they remain a stunning car to photograph.
Or you could say, “Seeing Smoooooth.” π
