When i rode the bus to school it drove by Donuts Delight and I always wanted to get off the bus and buy donuts. But earlier this year I drove out and bought two donuts (Emo is on a donut-free diet. They were as good as I had expected. The building is newly restored to it’s former glory after being vacant for a number of years, so if you’re in the area, stop and have a donut.
Are they better than Krispy Kreme ??
That’s a tough one. I love the KK fresh from the fryer better but after a few hours the DD are better.
Looks like my kind of place. I like local anything, and local donuts? Oh, man!
Thanks, Tom. I don’t get paid to endorse anything so if I say something is good it’s because I actually believe it.
Did they get rid of the pink? Or, did you do that?
I think the pink was very hip in 1958 but not so much anymore. The paint was toned down to a more neutral color in the renovation, which I think was a good choice.
I’m a foreigner by birth, but it always bothers me when I see Donuts . . . it should be Doughnuts.
. . . that’s so disrespectful . . .
I know what you mean but, as they say, “When in Rome…”. Besides, the sign maker charges by the letter.
Doh…
Thanks, Homer, I mean, Michele!
Classic vintage Americana, Ken (if a Brit is allowed to venture such a radical opinion!). Reminds me of Grease. I’m half expecting someone to break into song.
Thanks, Andy. I think “Grease” took place right in the time the building was designed and built. It’s still pretty cool.
Wow….such a bright and colourful place, I bet it makes the donuts taste wonderful…everything always tastes better when you feel better! I have yet to try Krispy Kreme who have a store here, but I am able to maintain some self-restraint.
My fave donuts are the German kind called Berliner (you know, when JFK said Ich bin ein Berliner, he didn’t realise he was telling them he was a donut; I would have loved to have been there to see their faces! I wonder if anyone apprised him of that fact later and I’m sure he had a good laugh if they did (here’s your one percent fact for the day) LOL! Great photos BTW!
Thanks, Janina. I’ve never had a Berliner!!! Now I’ll have to find a German bakery.
My advice about Krispy Kremes is to stay away from them. They are like cocaine. Very habit forming. STAY AWAY!
OK, will do, over and out, advice taken! LOL.
Wonderful story. 🙂
…and the donuts are even better.
I’d like to taste them one day.
We can have that lunch there!
Sounds good to me!
